LAFS: Artemis Boots by Erkan Demir
One of the LAFS (Love At First Sight) I had in Pure London were the Artemis Boots by the expert on antique carpets and folkarts of the orient Erkan Demir:
Erkan Demir has been in business for twenty years as owner of Sultan House in Istanbul, Turkey. He has worked with the Seattle Design Center and is currently opening satelite shops throughout the United States and Europe. Artemis Boots are usually draped with black velvet suzanis, but can be dyed to blue gold or smokey grey. Named for the Persian word referring to embroidery, Suzani’s are made of velvet, colorfully embroidered by skilled artisans and they convert these beautiful handmade textiles into boots and shoes. The boots are fully lined with goatskin, with a full length zipper for easy wear. Hereby some of its styles:

PURE LONDON 2010: The UK’s leading trade fashion event
Pure London, the UK’s leading trade fashion event for sourcing womenswear, young creative fashion for men and women, accessory and footwear brands took place on the Olympia London the last 1, 2 and 3 of August and I was there to enjoy it!
For its 28th season they shared with us the insights from leading fashion gurus worldwide. WGSN, Drapers, Kurt Salmon and London College of Fashion ran seminars on topics such as buying advice, future trends, localisation and visual merchandising:
Lucy Clements, industry expert and London College of Fashion tutor exposed her vision on the Seminar Visual Merchandising and Space Management in the context of fashion retail. We learned about brand communication, store layout, display and presentation techniques, organisational structures or merchandising techniques:
Fashion commentator and features editor at Drapers Khabi Mirza provided through the Seminar Independent boutiques versus the High Street an insight into the Autumn 2010’s women’s and men’s trends set for the high street:
And I got (OF COURSE!!) the awesome opportunity to meet new retailers whom I will be posting step by step through my section LAFS (Love At First Sight)!
